Agnes Sturgeon

Agnes Marie Sturgeon, age 88, of Erie, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at St. Mary’s at Asbury Ridge.

She was born in Erie, PA on November 16, 1929 the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Dorich. She was a wonderful homemaker, who enjoyed cooking, gardening and shopping. Agnes was a former member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church, where she served as a volunteer.  She was a volunteer at Gannondale Home for Girls and served as President there for one term.  She also volunteered for the soup kitchens.

Along with her parents, Agnes was preceded in death by her husband; Robert Sturgeon; her son, Greg Sturgeon; and three brothers.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Christensen and husband Chip; two sons, Robert Sturgeon, Jr. and wife Karen, and Barry Sturgeon and wife Susan; and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Sturgeon, all of Erie; two sisters, Betty Wasiliewski of Erie and Marge Sawey of Cleveland; and  10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West26^th Street, at Powell Avenue on Monday from 2 to 6 p.m. and on Tuesday at St. Mary’s at Asbury Ridge, 4855 West Ridge Road, from 10 a.m. until the funeral mass there at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
