Agnes Peterson

June 2, 1922 — December 8, 2015

Agnes McDonald Peterson, age 93, of Westlake Woods, passed away Tuesday, December 8th, 2015 at UPMC Hamot.

She was born in Venango, PA on June 2, 1922 a daughter of the late George E. and Frieda Metzger McDonald.

She was a graduate of Cambridge Springs High School and a 1943 graduate of Thiel College. Mrs. Peterson was a schoolteacher in the Uniontown School district and a substitute teacher for the Millcreek School District.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, AAUW and the Presque Isle, and Lakeshore Garden Clubs. She enjoyed sailing and wintering in Florida and travelling with her husband.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles H. Peterson whom she married in June 1944 , and a brother, Charles McDonald.

She is survived by two daughters, Ann K. Niemann and her husband Edwin of Beaver, PA, Kristi Chapman and her husband Stephen of Portage, MI, a son, Craig Peterson and his wife Alexis of Harborcreek. Further survived by four grandchildren, Jennifer Cockerill of Minnesota, Joel Niemann of Bellefont, PA, CTMC (SW), Christopher Peterson, U.S Navy, of Florida and Scott Peterson of Erie, five great-grandchildren, two nieces and several dear cousins.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street at Powell Ave., on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and are invited to attend a service at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1002 Powell Avenue, on Monday at 10 a.m.

Burial in Rocky Glen Cemetery in Atlantic, PA.
