Agnes R. McBeth, age 85 of Fairview, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017 at UPMC Hamot. She was born in Corry, PA on September 30, 1932, a daughter of the late Larry Long and Fannie (Broughton) Long.
Agnes was employed as the Assistant Manager at Richman Brothers men’s clothing store for 25 years.
She was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church, the Gridley Chapter #324, Order of the Eastern Star, the Red Hat Society and the Friends of the Library. She volunteered at both Elmwood Gardens and Manchester Commons and the Emmaus Soup Kitchen. Every year she would assist with the Oswalt Outing, a ministry began by her late son to provide shoes and school supplies for those in need. Agnes had a very strong faith and her personal ministry was to send cards to family, friends and those who just needed a card. She often sent over 100 cards per month.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Norman Oswalt, a son Dennis Oswalt, an infant brother Rodney Long, brothers Allan and Larry Long and sisters Esther Sickler and Rachel Thompson.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years Lewis D. McBeth; daughter Deborah Shoup (Patrick); grandchildren Dennis (Stacy) Oswalt, Jason (Elizabeth) Oswalt and Christopher Shoup and great-grandchildren Maddie, Liam and Ava. She is further survived by step-daughter Kathleen Sutto and step grandchildren Erin Eisert, Sara Barnes (Jake) and step great grandchildren Brandon and Lauren.
Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service, Wednesday December 27 at 11:00 am at Lake wood United Methodist Church 3856 West 10th Street Erie PA 16505 with Rev. Robert Lewis officiating.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 West 26th Street, Erie, PA 16506.
