Agnes Fisher

March 3, 1925 — December 13, 2015

Agnes Helen Anna Katherine Kuczaj Fisher, age 90, of Millcreek, passed away on December 13, 2015 at Manchester Commons.

She was born in Union City, PA on March 3, 1925, a daughter of the late Stanley and Katherine Rapacz Kuczaj.

Aggie graduated from Union City High School and went to work as a telephone operator at the Boston Store where she met her future husband, Lee.

She worked hard and took pride in her role as a homemaker. She loved fashion and when her youngest child was in high school, she returned to work in a women’s fine clothing store. She was a great cook, enjoyed gardening, and each election day for many years was a polling official in her district.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Leland Fisher; daughter, Susan Backstrom, son-in-law, Mark Backstrom, granddaughter, Sarah Backstrom; five brothers, Walter, Frank, Joseph, John and Stanley; and three sisters, Mary, Stella and Genevieve.

Agnes is survived by three daughters, Leslie (Larry) DiRisio of Fairport, NY, Laurie (Chuck) Klein of Erie, and Leanne Fisher of Pittsburgh. She is survived by eight grandchildren; Laurie Belczyk, Anna and Erik Backstrom , Katherine and Frank Mann, and Andy, Scott and Dan Klein; five great grandchildren; two brothers, Charles and Richard Kuczaj, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm and are invited to attend a prayer service there on Friday at 10:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Julia Church 638 Roslyn Ave, Erie, PA 16505 at 11:00 am.

Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Aggie’s family would like to extend their deepest appreciation and gratitude for the loving care provided by Manchester Commons, Eagle Ridge neighborhood.
