Adrianna Hagerty

August 7, 1929 — November 23, 2012

Adrianna C. Hagerty, 83, began her eternal life in God's loving arms on Friday, November 23, 2012.

Adrianna was born in England on August 7, 1929, but resided in Erie since her early childhood.

She was the loving and devoted daughter of Adrian and Frances Comper. Adrianna was a graduate of Villa Maria Elementary School, Sacred Heart Academy in Albany, NY, and Manhattanville College. Adrianna was a woman of faith, strength, and courage, and she shared those virtues with Jerry, her beloved husband for over 57 years, her five boys, and thousands of students she taught at Villa Maria Academy over a span of 27 years. Adrianna embraced and lived life to the fullest, and in turn fulfilled the lives of those she loved. She was an avid and accomplished bridge player, she spent many hours reading, knitting and painting, and as long as she had a beach chair and a ray of sun, you would find her by the water. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter Cathedral Parish.

In addition to her parents, Adrianna was preceded in death by her sister, Penelope (Peppy).

She is survived by her husband, Big Jer, her five sons: Mike and his wife Peggy of Pittsburgh, Chris and his wife Jennie of Erie, Adrian and his wife Caroline of Bethesda, Md, Sean and his wife Jane of Wayne, Pa, and Boo and his wife Aimee of Erie, her sister Ellen Gwynn and her husband Jack of Charlottesville, Va. She is also survived by the 16 grandchildren she so adored: Sarah, Diane, Dan, Meghan, Kevin, John, Adrian, Caroline, Brian, Matt, Kelly, Brendan, Kirsten, Maria, Kaitlin, and Alex; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th St. (at Powell Ave.) on Monday from 2-5 and 7-9pm and are invited to attend a prayer service there Tuesday at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter Cathedral, at 10 a.m. with Msgr. John Hagerty, celebrant. Adrianna loved flowers, but she loved Villa more.

Thus, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Adrianna C. Hagerty Scholarship Fund at Villa Maria Academy, 2403 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505.
