Loving Mother, Grandmother, and Best Friend
Adeline Mary DeRosa Harpootlian, 88, of New Rochelle, New York, died on November 30, 2012 at Erie Presbyterian Lodge in Erie, Pennsylvania. She was born July 25, 1924, in New Rochelle, New York, Daughter of the late Lucy Cioffari DeRosa Lapero and Carlo DeRosa. She graduated from Albert Leonard High School. She and her late husband, John Harpootlian, operated the family-owned business of Westchester Carpet Company for many years. She also worked as an office manager for I.B.M for a total of 20 years.
Her greatest love was music and she was part of Violette’s Kazooettes for more than 25 years. This wonderful singing group gave years of pleasure to the residents of nursing homes, senior centers, and New Rochelle Hospital (Sound Shore Medical ). She was a dedicated volunteer at Sound Shore for 30 years plus. She was a great lover of life and was deeply loved by all her family and many many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Harpootlian, her three sisters: Rosemary Phillips, Frances Meyer, and Jean Macri, her Godchild John Patterson, and many beloved cousins.
Survivors include her son, John Harpootlian, her daughter Linda Matz, her four grandchildren Rebecca Maschka, Mark McGivern, Andrew McGivern, and James McGivern.
The family wishes to offer a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Erie Presbyterian Lodge for all their kindness and support. We can’t say enough good things about all the wonderful people there. God bless them all.
Friends may call on Wednesday, December 5th at Lloyd Maxcy Funeral Parlor, 16 Shea Place, New Rochelle, New York from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held at the Funeral Parlor on Thursday, December 6th at 12:00 noon. Burial will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery on Long Island in Flushing, New York.
