Adah Eakin

December 16, 1930 — January 9, 2023

Adah G. McConnell Eakin, age 92, of Erie passed away Monday, January 9, 2023 at Pleasant Ridge Manor.

She was born on December 16, 1930 in Greenville, PA, a daughter of the late William James, Sr. and Pauline Barr McConnell.

Adah was a graduate of Shaler Township High School, Pgh., PA.

She was a charter member of Church of the Cross and a member of Koinonia #16. Adah was a former member of Lakewood Lad and Lassies Square Dance club.  She enjoyed nature and the environment, hiking and bicycling. She volunteered at the Nature Center, Presque Isle State park, Camp Glinodo, and the Neighborhood Art House. Adah was an avid reader and loved doing crossword puzzles daily. She loved to travel, exploring and going on adventures.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence G. “Larry” Eakin, a brother, William James McConnell, Jr; sisters, Pauline “Bea” Simpson, Martha McConnell and Ann Reynolds; and three brother in laws, W.W. “Bill” Simpson, David Wilson and Floyd Reynolds.

Adah is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Sue Karle of Erie; her sisters, Mary Wilson of OH and Ruth McConnell of Erie; and a brother, David McConnell of TN.  She is further survived by her grandchildren, Brian L. Karle (Amanda) and Sarah J. Lewis (Jason); great-grandchildren, Jordan A. Kraus, Emily Lee Karle and Lucas Michael Karle; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to Pleasant Ridge Manor nurses and staff with special gratitude to Nurse Mary for their exceptional care and support.

Friends may call on the family at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services, Inc., West Ridge, 3801 West 26th Street, Erie, on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Saturday, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.  The Rev. Drew Himes of Church of the Cross will officiate.  Graveside committal services for Adah and her husband, Lawrence will be conducted on May 26th at 11 am at Millcreek Cemetery in Utica, PA officiated by the Reverend James McCormick.
