Abdul Halim (Lorenzo Hooks, Jr., of Buffalo, New York, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018.
He was born in Laurel, MS, on June 8, 1933, a son of the late Lorenzo Hooks and Rachel Deloache. He was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Army. Abdul was a dedicated man of the Muslim faith. He was a military man, loved to travel, loved his family, and loved to dress. He will be missed by many.
In addition to his parents, Abdul is preceded in death by his grandmother, Viola Deloache, and his brother Ralph Childes.
He is survived by his sons; Eddie Moe, of Erie, Kai Halim, of New York, New York, Sherman Hooks, of Long Island, and Abdul Halim, Jr., of Buffalo; his daughters, Shanna Halim, of New York, New York, Samantha Hooks, Sheila Hooks, Lercha Hooks, and Lori Finn, of Long Island. He is further survived by his sisters; Rachel Deloache of Erie, and Edith Henderson of Meadville; and his brother, Leon (Carol) Hooks; his nephew, Michael R. Hooks, and many other nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call on the family on Saturday, January 27th at Abundant Life Church, 806 Parade Street, Erie PA from 11:00 until the time of the service at 1:00. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery.
