Mark Mills

Mark D. Mills, 67, of Edinboro passed away at home on Saturday, May 14, 2022, after a very courageous 14-month battle with complications due to COVID-19.

He was born in Erie on June 1, 1954, a son of the late Merle and Wilma (Anderson) Mills.

Mark graduated from General McLane High School in 1972. He worked at Fairview Evergreen Nurseries, Inc. in Fairview for 50 years, only retiring due to his illness. Because Mark never missed a day of work, The Mark Mills “Iron Man” Perfect Attendance Award was created. He would often sing, in his deepest voice, that one line, “I am Iron Man” from the song by Black Sabbath.

In his younger years, he enjoyed motorcycles, Jeeps, and 4-wheelers (the faster, the better). Mark loved flying his hang glider and his ultralight aircraft. He loved FJ40 Land Cruisers and going to auctions; he had acquired a lot of stuff to prove it! Mark loved hunting with his family and spending as much time as he could working outdoors. He also enjoyed collecting beach glass the last few years before his illness. Mark was the rock of his family, and his absence will leave an immeasurable void.

Mark is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Marlene (Czulewicz) Mills, one son Michael (Kacey) of Edinboro, and one daughter Melanie (Kevin), of Erie. He is also survived by one brother Gary (Barb) of Edinboro, many nieces and nephews, and his lifelong friend and neighbor, Bryan Bannister.

Per Mark’s wishes, no calling hours or services will be held.
